I haven’t yet shown our great day at Surfers Healing Annual Pat Notaro Day on June 2nd.I almost forgot to share them! It was so cloudy, and so cold, until the sun burns off at around 2, when everyone is done and tired! But the kids have a blast once they forget they’re shivering, and the atmosphere is uplifting and inspiring as always!
I don’t know about you but most of the time I can’t even remember those days when I was so carefree that all that a summer day meant was enjoying the company of a crawling “whirly-pearly” or the cool splashes of the sprinkler in the backyard. But now instead, I enjoy it through the eyes of children. Oh, if only that’s all there was!
This last one made me see, the girls definitely ruled the waves that day. That’s awesome! Then this morning as I was walking to the elevator, my neighbor and I talked a little surfing. He said he just had to show me this book he had. This is it. And I have to say, it’s really cute.
Hi Everyone! I guess for my first post, I should introduce myself. I’m Kristina, mom to a beautiful little boy, Charlie. He’s my little muse. But really this hobby-turned-obsession started so long ago when I was a small child and I got my first camera for Christmas. It was a Vivitar 110. I started snapping everything, and then I saved up some of my first money and bought my second camera at age nine, a Canon Snappy. Well, many years after that I started modeling, it seems so long ago now. But I had a great time, and so grew my fascination with photography. I worked with some amazing photographers, Walter Iooss, who’s known as THE photographer for the Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Issue, and Troy Plota, who does those beautiful Izod campaigns. I loved watching them work, and knew all along that I belonged behind the camera. So here I am! Now my true joy is catching those beautiful moments in children, babies, all people really, the candid ones, where a sparkle is in their eyes as they get excited, or the laughter is bubbling out of them. It’s the best thing in the world to me!
Here was a little fun on New Year’s Day this year. I was at my friends’ house, a few of us had been up for New Year’s Eve the night before, but all of the kids were wide awake and happy to play in the backyard. So in our sweats, sunglasses on, us adults trodded out to some loungechairs with our coffee. Me with my camera of course.
My name is Kristina Bant Jenkins. I am a photographer, writer, model, marathon- runner, devoted yogi, designer of awesome PacificSUP boards, Dane in California, creator of THISisAutism™, founder of Aut2bFit™, and… mom to THE coolest boy there is… who happens to have autism.
