As I wake up for Valentine’s Day, I am not going to be thinking about the usual, ugh! Lol! Today, I am instead thinking back to the fall, to a very special occasion I didn’t get to write about, a beautiful wedding between two amazing individuals, who, once they met each other, grew a Love so amazing, so brilliant, they wanted to celebrate it from the tops of mountains, at the tops of their voices, with all of their loved ones there to witness it. I had the joy of photographing this insanely-in-love couple on their special day. And not unlike many couples on their wedding day, I felt their love and their romance was contagious. I left with a renewed optimism for finding love, for finding that one true soulmate, for feeling something so pure and so unencumbered I had no fear of telling everyone in the world about my absolute devotion and commitment. I love to photograph a couple on their special day, or any couple so in love on any day they choose to share with me, because as I cherish capturing those intense emotional moments on camera to live for eternity, as they know their love will. I love to feel the feelings in their faces through the camera. It’s a rare special gift they are giving me, letting me in to share that moment, their feelings. Continue Reading ->

What was once a dark, gothic Spanish, heavy with stained old wood, dungeon of a library in this sprawling Spanish-style estate in Hope Ranch, was transformed, to say the least. The designer was given a free reign to make this somewhat small room (relatively speaking) modern and fun to sit in. She wanted to keep the architectural integrity of the Spanish home: the beams, arches and wood were kept, but she thought navy. Navy blue! All the dark wood for the shelving was stripped and painted a beautiful shade of navy blue that instantly transformed the dark goth. The home owner’s Chagall took a new spot above the mantel, the colors popping against the navy backdrop. The library kept it’s theme with tufted leather chairs on each side of the fireplace, but the spontaneity continued to the sofa, upholstered in a rich dark blue velvet with over-sized nailheads. A glass table in the center lightened it up, stacked with coffee talbe books and an orchid. And a zebra (faux I hope, haha!) covered ottoman finishes it off, with a tic-tac-toe game waiting for the readers’ breaks. Anywhere you sit in this room boasts a view of the gorgeous scenery outside, mountains, palm trees, through the glass doors on one side, or the arches leading to more glass doors on the other side. On Wednesday, I went up to Santa Barbara to shoot a residence that has been exquisitely redone from its former heavy gothic Spanish style into an updated lighter modern Mediterranean home with unbelievable interior design. The interior designer has done three homes for the owner and when he bought this one, he gave her his complete trust and a free rein. The name “Hope Ranch” gives me hope that I will one day live somewhere like this. This house is truly amazing! Continue Reading ->

This is Jaime, an amazing mom of two boys, yes two, with autism, a gorgeous wife to a really cool guy who happened to win the Today Show’s hot dad contest, founder of the organization Auptimism, which hosts fun and inventive playdates for kids on the autistic spectrum and their entire families here in Los Angeles, and most important, a beautiful friend to my son and me.
